Walk Against Warming in Cairns Australia

December 13th, 2009

Walk against warming in Cairns was a success, hundreds of local residents attended showing their support and voicing their concerns about climate change.

The event was organised by the Cairns Climate Coalition (ccc) who encouraged local residents to take part in the issue of climate change.

The walk kicked off at 9.00 am and everyone was in high spirits we marched sang and chanted, creating solidarity for this worthy cause.

Cairns is a low-lying coastal tropical city that is vulnerable to climate change. Rising sea levels increase the risk, intensity and frequency of cyclones.

I have to say this event was a success we raised awareness to this issue by attracting the local press and T.V stations, we also had the Mayor Val Schier who marched and spoke on climate change Val strongly supports taking action for the environment.

I’ve marched at this event but that’s not it, I will continue to voice my concerns and do my part to create a better environment.

WELL DONE CAIRNS
