All our nutritional requirements can all be obtained directly from nature. Whole foods are perfectly balanced and they give you the maximum nutritional benefits.
We have to admit that lifestyle can have a big impact on our overall health, when living in a city the temptation of eating take away food, refined and processed foods is huge, hence the obesity problem, disease etc we now have in our society.
All though we are living in so called modern times disease is on the rise.
Listen do your self a favor, if you are looking to increase you overall health and wellness start to reintroduce a variety of natural foods into your diet, they were all designed for by nature not in labs, you work out which one’s best.
Without health your life will be one of sickness. I appreciate that this can be difficult to start eating healthy, so start slowly and guilt free and see the difference it makes to your life.
Mans best friend is his food and these foods come straight from mother nature, remember she knows best.
Have not blogged in a while, I honestly lost my flow and just could not write a true block
I have been struggling with self in many ways, but as you all know life is what you make it so I have done some soul searching and things are better.
Wanted to write about this great Eco gadget that I think is brilliant for when your traveling to areas with unsafe drinking water, it’s called the steripen.
The Steripen uses shortwave ultra violet light this destroys the DNA of bacteria, viruses and protozoa, leaving them harmless so you can refill your water bottle knowing the water is safe, also saving the environment but not having to buy those pesky plastic bottles.
The Steripen water purify is a true earth friendly gadget you can take with you when you go traveling, hiking, trekking. It can purify 0.5 litres (16 oz) in 48 seconds, it takes chlorine 4 hours to do the same job.
When will we learn, with all the eco options available to us why do we still think it’s cool to go into other peoples back yards and destroy it.
Australia has been urged to stop importing timber products that have been illegally harvested. The forests of Papua New Guinea are suffering because of this.
Papua New Guinea (PNG) is situated north of Far North Queensland Australia in the pacific ocean, this beautiful untouched country is under threat from logging.
Forests are being felled, barges filled then they are piled onto ships bound for China, the wood is then made into products such as plywood furniture.
The majority of PNG’s population live in traditional societies and practice harvesting food with minimal impact to the environment, in other words pretty much taking only what they need.
PNG is one of the least explored countries in the world, that alone gets your imagination going as to what undiscovered cures, plants insects etc exist on this land but will we ever find out because a 2008 report by the university of PNG states that if illegal logging continues by 2021 four fifths of accessible forest area will be cleared affecting the people and wildlife of this beautiful country.
When looking for wood look for a logo on the product that says FSC meaning forest stewardship council as this represents wood that has been certified or product that has been sourced from a sustainably managed forest.
My last say on this is that every time we as the citizens of the planet take a step forward there is always some power we cannot control who is motivated by money that makes us unknowingly take two steps back, Go figure.
How to Go Going Green is all about helping mother earth and her people, and we as citizens of the planet need to stop take a look at what is going on in Haiti and see what we can do to help our fellow citizens.
Donate to www.Yele.org an organization that was set by a musical artist called Wyclef who himself is from Haiti where he has an earthquake fund, 100% of money goes to Haiti.
A note on Palm Kernel Oil : Much controversy surrounds this ingredient at present. This is due to the mass production occurring in Indonesia and Malaysia. Forests are being cleared and as a result wildlife are losing their habitats and dying in the process.
Processing of Palm Kernel Oil has been done for thousands of years in Africa and the plant from which this oil is sourced is indigenous to this region. Africa is only producing approximately 20% of the world’s supply and most of this is used on a domestic basis. It is a sustainable industry and does not impact negatively on the people, the environment & wildlife. Overseas sales help to create a market for local people.
The Palm Kernel Oil used in the production of African Black Soap is sourced locally in Africa from sustainable sources.
The new year is finally here. Do you have a plan on how you can cut your carbon footprint?
Going green is not that hard but with so much to do in our lives already it is easy to simply not act on this issue. Think of it like this, your actions today contribute to making our world a better place to live not just for us but for all future generations.
Go ahead, make going green part of your action plan for 2010. You know it makes sense!
Here are some green ideas you may want to include in your own plan:
1. Start by eliminating the use of harsh chemical products as they enter and pollute are waterways, opt for environmentally friendly products or make your own.
2. Be more energy efficient remember to turn off appliances when not in use and remove them from the socket.
3. Switch off your T.V’s, Computers, Game consoles starting with one day a week and save on energy by reading a book, conversation, physical activity even playing board games with the family.
4. We cannot all afford to change our cars to a more emission friendly one, so choose to drive less, try using public transport, ride a bike and walk more you will see the results in your health and wellbeing, you can incorporate walking and cycling into your fitness plan.
5. Buy less this year and look at the things in your home that you can reuse.
6. Bring your own eco bag when out shopping, there are many on the market that can be folded away into tiny packages that are fashionable and are easy to carry around.
7. People are drinking more water which is a good thing, but the down side is we are purchasing more plastic bottles that containing the liquid from the gods. Plastic bottles are a big problem so carry your own environmentally friendly bottle tap water is cheaper.
8. Stick to your food shopping list and buy what you will actually eat.
9. Use less water. Take shorter showers, put less water in the bath and turn off your taps so they are not dripping.
10. Think about growing your own food even if you live in an apartment, if you have a family get hem involved and make it fun.
These are just a few things you can do if you have any great ideas you can share with me I would love to hear from you because we are in this together.
How To Go green is a common term that everyone is aware of, we all know what we can do to become greener but it seems as though we are choosing not to.
Take water for example we all know that filtering are own water and putting it into an eco reusable bottle is better, but stats show that bottled water consumption is on the rise. You can save yourself heaps of money if you drank from your own re useable bottle, tap water costs less.
Food is another one for some reason we seem to eat more than we need and end up throwing so much away, so why not try a different approach when out shopping, why not plan your shop, buy seasonal foods, know what you have in your cupboards, and take along an earth friendly bag, no you are not a boring person if you do this, you are just not playing the ignorant game.
Stop being fooled by companies selling the latest gadgets because you will find the one you already have does the same thing, and if you do need to buy a new appliance find out how energy saving and environmentally friendly it is.
Once again we all know what to do, so this year clean out your thoughts, stop fooling your self, stop burying your head in the sand and realize the environmental problem is not going to go away the earth needs your help.
This video is of a young girl who spoke out at a UN meeting on the issue of the environment, I wanted to share this as I thought it was a really powerful message, check it out.
In 2009 I kept to some of my resolutions; I use eco reusable bags when shopping instead of plastic, I bought and use post consumer recycled paper for printing and post consumer recycled envelopes for letters, I pick up an organic fruit and vegetable box sourced from local farmers every week reducing trips to the super market and excess, non essential packaging, I walk a lot more instead of driving, I even started a compost bucket. One thing I have not yet fully achieved is growing my own veggie patch. I have started and dabbled but not fully succeeded.
I have had a mental block regarding this as I do not own my home. I think even if I grow food then have to move out at least someone else if they so choose can benefit from this. Even if they don’t the soil quality will be improved from all my wonderful compost I mean isn’t this what it’s all about sharing to make this world a better place and planting more for a greener world.
2010 will see me focussing more on my planting and learning how to grow my own food – a skill we all should consider acquiring even if we live in small places with no yard space. You can still grow food indoors.
